Passenger's Side Front Compartment This compartment contains a basic tool box complete with ratchets and wrenches. Also pictured is a "smoke ejector", a large fan that is used to ventilate a building. A large extension cord that is on a reel, the cord is powered by the trucks on board generator. This compartment also contains a full compliment of fire extinguishers. | |
Passenger's Side Second Compartment This compartment contains two K-12 Partner Ventilation Saws. Also in this compartment;are salvage pumps, one gas powered and one electric, these are used to assist residents from removing large amounts of water from their homes. | |
Passenger's Side Third Compartment This compartment is home to a small folding ladder and seven spare SCBA cylinders. | |
Passenger's Side Fourth Compartment This compartment stores the materials used for Hazardous Materials clean ups. There are several pails of absorbent as well as materials for creating dykes and plugs to be used on leaking containers. | |
Driver's Side Second Compartment In the lower left hand side are lifting air bags, they are used in rescue situations to lift heavy objects. In the centers of the compartment are various bins that contain chains that are used to lift and pull. The hose on the top of the compartment is used for inflating and can be used in a water rescue. | |
Driver's Side Third Compartment The upper shelf contains various lengths ropes that are used for lowering and lifting tools. In the red containers are two reciprocating saws, one has blade that is preset to cut wood and other is to cut metal. There are also seven additional SCBA cylinders in this compartment | |
Driver's Side Fourth Compartment This compartment is home to the "Jaws of Life", which is pictured in the lower left hand side. The Park Ridge Fire Department’s "Jaws of Life" is manufactured by Hurst Corporation and it is powered by an electric power supply which moves hydraulic fluid through the hoses causing the tip to move. This piece of rescue equipment is frequently used at motor vehicle crashes to removed trapped occupants. Behind the "Jaws" is hydraulic powered cutting tool. There are also several "Rams" which are hydraulic devices used to spread and lift objects. The two reels seen provide access to air and hydraulic fluid at distances of two hundred feet from the truck |
